A Higashinese girl of unknown racial heritage and an exchange student in Lungmen, Utage is known for being a fashionista who always wants to try something new. However, an incident during a school trip caused her to contract Oripathy. Currently Utage is under treatment in Rhodes Island, where she is also lending her service as a combatant using her Originium-enhanced physique.
Gameplay
Utage is a 4★ Musha Guard who specializes in DPS and Survival. As a Musha Guard, Utage cannot be directly healed by other friendly units (indirect healing such as Bard Supporters' trait will still heal her); to compensate this, she will restore a slight amount of HP in each attack (30 initial, 50 at Elite 1, 70 at Elite 2). Utage has high HP and ATK in exchange for low DEF and can only block a single enemy, similar to Dreadnought Guards but higher, in exchange for a high DP cost of 24 at Elite 2, preventing her from being deployed easily in the early game. Since Medics and Guardian Defenders cannot heal Utage, she must be on the lookout for hard-hitting enemies and those with Arts attacks (due to Utage's lack of RES) as they could render her great HP redundant unless she can dispatch them fast enough.
Utage's skills allow her to both inflict more damage and last longer on the field but with drawbacks which could be detrimental when they are used incorrectly:
- The first skill, Space Out, buffs Utage's DEF and makes her regenerate HP over time, but she can neither attack nor block enemies while active. While the drawbacks might be unhelpful, Space Out can be useful when Utage is in danger of dying or if she is used between enemy waves, since it makes melee enemies leave her alone and ranged enemies only scratch her, allowing her to recuperate before returning into action and mitigating her trait.
- The second skill, Descending Strike - Earth Splitter, buffs Utage's ATK and makes her attacks deal Arts damage instead of Physical for a period of time after she is deployed, in exchange for losing half of her HP the moment she is deployed. Despite Utage's high DP cost that might make Descending Strike - Earth Splitter less effective, the ATK buff and Arts damage it provides can be effective when the player needs to dispatch a powerful, threatening enemy, not to mention that having only about half HP means that Serious Mode (see below) will improve Utage's DPS further.
Utage's talent, Serious Mode, gives her an ASPD Tenacity that allows Utage to inflict more DPS when in danger of dying and simultaneously recover herself quicker than usual.
Utage's MUS-X Operator Module, Flip Phone, applies a 25% Sanctuary effect when her HP falls below 50%, in addition to increasing her maximum HP and ATK; once upgraded, Utage receives a second talent, Cold-Blooded, which slightly buffs her ATK and DEF when her HP falls below 50%. Although the ATK and DEF buff are rather negligible, the module's intital trait improves her already serviceable survivability, and subsequently allows to make use of her talent even more effectively.
Utage's first base skill, Psychology, increases the rate at which Recruitment tag refresh chances are generated by 40% when she is assigned to the Human Resources Office. Her second base skill, Clue Search β, increases clue search rate by 20% when Utage is assigned to the Reception Room.
Overall, Utage is a solid Musha Guard who, despite being unable to be healed by her comrades, will make good use of the fact that anything which does not kill her makes her stronger to cut down all in her path.
